<div style="text-align: justify;">
So I wasn't sure about posting this image but as a marketer, I know an image is worth a 1000 words. This is my yearly mammogram day, not cool, painful, but not as painful as cancer treatment. Getting my boob squished under 20 pounds of pressure is painful, just look at my face. I am breathing in and holding my breath because they want me to do it but also because my breath is the only thing I can control.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If my calculations are good and my life expectancy is 95 years old, I would have done 75 mammograms in my entire life. That's a lot but it could save my life again. I have to undergo a yearly 3D mammogram and I encourage you to:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1- Touch your breasts. Get to know them so that you can know what's normal in your breasts.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
2- Schedule your mammogram. It is annoying, it is painful but trust me it is nothing compare to chemotherapy + surgery + radiation.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Talk to your female family members/friends/colleagues and let them know that October should be a reminder they have to go get a mammogram because early detection saves lives and show them this pic so we can all be survivors and eradicate cancer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1- Touchez vos seins.
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Pour faire un don <a href="http://www.cbcf.org/fr-fr/central//GetInvolved/Donate/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank">http://www.cbcf.org/fr-fr/central//GetInvolved/Donate/Pages/default.aspx</a></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After 8 months of treatment to kill (litterally!) cancer, I finished...with a burned nipple, my skin peeling off, a first degree burn, but still alive :)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now I have to take care of the skin treated, the irradiated zone, I forgot about the previous pain of chemo, neulasta shots, and post-op...it's like a bad memory, a nightmare.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Undergoing radiotherapy on a breast, gives me the ok to be bra-less, yes no bra, so less pain of the fabric rubbing the sensitive zone.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thank you all for the support during this fight, that I won, but that others might have took a long break, because I don't like to say they've lost. When you die of cancer, you don't loose, you take a break...its a hard fight, and if some wars lasted 10 years...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But its not finished yet, I am running for the CIBC run for the cure on October 5th, I have 1 month to prepare to run 5 km. I never did it before cancer, but now I cannot not do it, because the care I received in Quebec and Montreal, saved my life.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I ask you to join/donate/participate in my team called Onna musha in Quebec city. Any amount can help to conquer this damn cancer one day (hopefully before my death in 70 years!).</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0.1pt 0cm; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times; font-size: small;">Well chemo is over
and the surgery was a 95% success....so to cover the remaining 5% to be
cancer-free FOREVER, I needed to do radiotherapy....yes the minimum 20 rounds
recommended.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0.1pt 0cm; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0.1pt 0cm; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times; font-size: small;">They said (except Dre
Provencher) is easy breezy, so I kept running 4 times a week and training 2
days a week with the personal trainer, but then my treatment started and it
felt like someone punch me in the stomach while running...I was exhausted.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0.1pt 0cm; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0.1pt 0cm; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times; font-size: small;">I hate that feeling
and since the treatment is only preventive, I thought of not doing it...but
then I know that it can only be done once in a lifetime and since I don't plan
having a second breast cancer, I went for my treatment each morning.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0.1pt 0cm; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0.1pt 0cm; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times; font-size: small;">Now I am done with
radiotherapy at 50% , and I still feel tired but the doctor says it won't get
worse and its normal since my healthy cells are repairing the damage caused by
radiation while killing the remaining potential cancerous cells. I am at the
finish line of this ordeal and I cannot wait to celebrate in NYC at the end of
the month...even if I feel like 75 years old LOL.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0.1pt 0cm; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0.1pt 0cm; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Times; font-size: small;">This week they
changed my appointments for the last one of the day. In Quebec City there's
only one hospital where radiotherapy can be made, so I wasn't that
surprised....but then the technician told me I got switched with a children who
needs emergency radiotherapy under anesthesia...my little heroes like Bruno,
how can I be mad of being the last patient of the day?</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
2- pour vaincre ma peur des aiguilles</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ce que ça m'a donné en retour:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1-J'ai aidé à sauver des vies...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUSowpmBlvHYemXq5x8pwzJ1Yc3BNCMUpqyxRK9Ck1oSWERzawO9LYE4Sern_F2bCQpCeycW2TImacQNFGE-9vOpIdF9UEI3sB3svlm5cCS7MYWMOC5wpOAnsOG6LJZjmCS_KOQMXPM1Np/s1600/blood5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUSowpmBlvHYemXq5x8pwzJ1Yc3BNCMUpqyxRK9Ck1oSWERzawO9LYE4Sern_F2bCQpCeycW2TImacQNFGE-9vOpIdF9UEI3sB3svlm5cCS7MYWMOC5wpOAnsOG6LJZjmCS_KOQMXPM1Np/s1600/blood5.jpg" height="320" width="248" /></a><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyi77HBg1eyFbAS0PW2FbBFxgDXnexRezLcUiAmi7XIZba4vlkAeGAPoDjQlEDYLKtewtoiiU2GhK0l3zPbRfZdkdNX0xHQecleVemMZTYleaA8CpCfCLMtmnAvi3HBGKbN_rbFjlNDok0/s1600/blood4.jpg" height="320" width="259" /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Before getting diagnosed with this stupid cancer, I used to give blood 2 times per year when my iron level was high enough to do it. I used to give blood for 2 reasons:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1- because it really helps people that need blood<br />
2- to overcome my fear of needles<br />
<br />
What it gave me in return:<br />
1- I helped to save lives...<br />
2- The needles used for blood donation are the biggest used, so during chemo I wasn't scared anymore LOL<br />
<br />
I told you this because at his last session, my friend <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jappuie-Bruno/1424123981204750" target="_blank">Bruno</a> needed platelet. The kind of platelets that you give at the same time you give blood at the Globule center. With those platelets, he was ready for this week's chemo, where he will stay 4 days at the hospital, because in his case, having a treatment later means more costs and losing a week under his medical insurance that will expire in December 2014.<br />
<br />
I heard about <a href="http://sosmai.com/fr/" target="_blank">Mai Duong</a>, a Vietnamese mom who need a donation of stem cells to fight leukemia and live, for the joy of her 4 years old daughter and the rest of her family and friends. There is no enough donors from the minorities like Asians, Latinos, Haitians, etc. It's my goal to encourage more people in my circle to give their umbilical cords, blood, stem cells, etc. To help people fight diseases, save lives, and get rid of all the myths about blood donation.<br />
<br />
You will see how positive it is to give blood, me for the moment I cannot and I feel hopeless, I feel like I don't do enough to be a good human!<br />
<br />
PS: In other countries, you have to pay to RECEIVE blood, stem cells, etc. You have to take advantage, we don't pay for it, and we really don't know when we will need it...</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was drawn to the news of a Mexican family in Quebec that have a 5 years old boy with a kidney cancer with metastasis in the orbital bone. In may, Bruno had a surgery to extract a tumor of 1.5 kilos at the CHUL (the weight of a watermelon!). An emergency surgery after analysis, he would need radiotherapy and chemotherapy, because of the metastasis. I offered my help in a way I could: with transport. I dropped Bruno at his radiotherapy sessions everyday at Hotel-Dieu hospital. I even babysitted him one night while it was his year-end concert at school. I've got to know a small boy who loves to play Wii but doesn't like to lose LOL He also loves to dance and music, and worries about others since he told me to be careful with my arm while I played Wii...and he is only 5 years old.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I share his story because Bruno doesn't have my luck to be born in Quebec, his parents are students at the Doctorate at Laval University, they have a temporary status, but with lots of possibilities and high qualities to become Canadian citizens. Because of this status, Bruno has to pay his medical bills and cannot receive help from foundations that have to follow silly rules that he has to be cover by the RAMQ. His parents being very cautious, applied for a private insurance, but he still has to do 7 months of chemotherapy and the insurance expires in December 2014, and chemotherapy costs are high, anti-nausea pills can be 100$ per week for some patients, and for kids, hospital stays are common to make sure he receives a proper chemotherapy and doesn't have life-threatening reactions to it. I let you make the calculations, his surgery to remove the tumor has cost around 60 000$...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With 5 years old Bruno is smiling, when I see him he shows me how happy he is and how playful he is, and how normal like the other kids he wants to be. He is very courageous, and he's my hero. I'm 26 years old and my hero is 5 years old. Every time I see him, I stop complaining about my weight gain due to chemo, that my eyelashes doesn't grow faster, because Bruno doesn't even know what prom night is, to drive his first car, and he has all the rights to live those moments.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I ask you to help Bruno because for the moment, the most important help is financial, because he has to pay his medical bills and hospital stays, not transport, that's my part. Any amount can make a difference, and also help his parents to feel relieved for their daughter Rebecca, who is 8 years old, and who's watching her little brother fight for his life, You are strong Bruno!<br>
<br>
What are the odds that a female patient, with 4% of breast cancer risk, meet with a 5 year old kid with 1% risk of sarcoma cancer? I don't care and I'm lucky to have met him :) </div>

<br>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
Elle avait un café à la main avec un look just like any other day!!!

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ces recommandations pour l'après-chimio sont:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Ne pas me fatiguer pour rien :)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

I've waited so long for this appointment on May 20 with Dre Provencher that I had a list of questions regarding after the chemo and the surgery. She was back from a trip outside Canada, so I was surprised to see her before my last chemo, but also happy since I wanted to know my surgery's date.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We started the appointment talking about the surgery, because of the good results from the chemo the surgery is a partial mastectomy or lumpectomy. The surgery consists in removing the zone where the tumor was, it can be found with the tracker they've put at the first biopsy. The surgery is less invasive than a breast mastectomy, and its a surgery of an hour, with only 2 incisions. Even if my lymph nodes weren't affected as a preventive measure, Dr Provencher decided to find the sentinel node and see if the others lymph nodes connecting have a risk of cancer. In case of a high risk or a malignant lymph nodes detected at the pathology test, they will remove the affected nodes, so I might have drains to take care after the surgery. It is unlikely that I have to extract lymph nodes, but she still have to tell me in case I have a surprise when I woke up.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
She started filling the paperwork to book the day of june 9th for my surgery. YESSS I have a date now, you can send me your good vibes on this day since I will undergo surgery for the first time in my life, and be fully unconscious. This is what scares me the most, I won't be conscious and I asked Dre Provencher why and she told me:"I cannot put you to sleep half of it, its completely or without." and I told her:" But during the biopsy it was local anesthesia", and she told me that I didn't want to be locally sedated because I will feel everything...and I don't want that!!!Another good news is that I will keep my nipple!!!There was a medium risk at the beginning that the tumor was near my nipple, but if you look at the MRI image below, you will see the tumor is far from the nipple, which is good news for keeping it. It didn't really matter, but I have less stitches to take care off or a tattoo less to have LOL<br />
<br />
She started to examine my breast and told me, everything looks good for a partial mastectomy :) with a smile, I was so happy that I wanted to hug her....but I remembered that I didn't have a bra LOL<br />
<br />
Here are her recommendations after chemo:<br />
- Wait 6 weeks before eating sushi and oysters FML...so long!!!<br />
- Do not skydive in the coming months...I tried to negotiate but she wanted to know why I wanted so bad to skydive LOL<br />
- Do not travel before the surgery because I have to meet with the pre-surgery team and do other exams.<br />
- Do not tire myself.</div>
Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05887888446472531016noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3519971189443477091.post-41818518449846411802014-05-26T23:19:00.001-04:002014-05-26T23:19:59.069-04:00Last chemo - Dernière chimio<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well it was a hell of a roller coaster in emotions and deterioration of everything: skin, physical strength, sexual life (yes, now I know how it feels to be 96 and making love LOL), and hair; but it was the only way to shrink the tumor and be healthy again. Nonetheless, I would never wish to my worst enemy (I don't have a worst enemy...but I would only wish cancer could have cancer and never exist) to undergo chemotherapy...I don't know how kids can do it and I don't know how a person can do it more than 5 months...you are my heros.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Chemotherapy worked in my case, we cannot feel the tumor anymore. I didn't loose all my hair, I still have eyebrows and eyelashes, and I can say I was lucky, my body is a warrior, because I was prepare to loose everything.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The night before I cried in my boyfriend's arms, I was happy that I was finishing this long ordeal, and I told him I couldn't believe it that I made it, with a smile, with confidence but also that I won. Chemotherapy is the worst part of a cancer's treatment, when you finish it, you really graduated from hospitals, needles, etc.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I wanted to spend this last chemotherapy awake, so I did everything to not sleep during this last treatment so that I could remember in 70 years, how it felt to have to be sitting in that chair and laughing with the nurses, for the last time in my life.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I would like to thank each of you who took time to read those posts. I will never post about my chemotherapy sessions, but will try to post about articles and keep you guys up to date about the research on chemotherapy. I am also writing a post about how you can help someone who is undergoing chemotherapy, because unless you have lived it, you're not always sure how you can help.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am happy to say no more chemotherapy and that I graduated from chemotherapy on May 21st, 2014 a day before my 26th birthday :) 0 chemotherapy to do, 16 chemos done.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

This chemo I was happy to see the pharmacist...another one that was able to answer my questions. She came because I gained 10 pounds since the beginning of the treatment and normally, they have to increase the dose of the medication. But she says since I have numbness in my hands and feet for a few hours now and that I feel tired, she will not increase the dosis, and it will not affect the results of the treatment since the tumor is not in my boobie anymore!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was so happy to hear that because I saw I gained weight, my appetite is exactly as I was as a teenager LOL She also told me to that I can start the biotin supplement, to help my hair growth faster, 1 week after my last treatment.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Everything is only 1 away...1 treatment, 1 week, 1 month!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT ANY LONGER</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The next post will be the last...happily for me because I will not wish to anyone to undergo chemotherapy nearly 5 months!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
1 more...1 more </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIhVmv34fc4dUaeINiVRAxTuXGW-uCgVKWaeFbFBDgWkOQk7yFNirISIfxQLvbDKGrMqXVhzikHW9DsJPBIykf-svTtyB7BrzQo7-e-LP1c4wrtW_hsOL4AQXJHN40UVVUtKmVWf2p1dz6/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIhVmv34fc4dUaeINiVRAxTuXGW-uCgVKWaeFbFBDgWkOQk7yFNirISIfxQLvbDKGrMqXVhzikHW9DsJPBIykf-svTtyB7BrzQo7-e-LP1c4wrtW_hsOL4AQXJHN40UVVUtKmVWf2p1dz6/s1600/1.jpg" height="400" width="265" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4pxH1acVYiYKmjJVeshPxQvvN2L3YtHlIlBLRuwdAowSPvKBuwjBRp5egJip6Q8SYwylDx_28dqUNJb_DM8ZcfWW-n3GGJz6cywUH8BZn6uCd6xnxo99K7UqgMJwdYI6RZu6eRc_gDceq/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4pxH1acVYiYKmjJVeshPxQvvN2L3YtHlIlBLRuwdAowSPvKBuwjBRp5egJip6Q8SYwylDx_28dqUNJb_DM8ZcfWW-n3GGJz6cywUH8BZn6uCd6xnxo99K7UqgMJwdYI6RZu6eRc_gDceq/s1600/2.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This chemo wasn't different from others...other than I really didn't wanted to go, so that I cried the night before saying to my loving and caring boyfriend, I am tired of going and I want to stop it. This is not usual for me, but I guess after 14 rounds of chemo, 4 months of treatment, I am tired, really really tired and can't wait to be over. I am not someone who does something and doesn't finish it, but chemotherapy is such a pain in the ass, I think at this point in my life, is the worst thing I've ever endure.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Oddly the night before, I slept less than my 8 hours, but I had the highest "scores" than ever for my red blood cells. Not even when I started chemo back in january I had those high counts, which is really good. I didn't feel that tired compare to other weeks, and clearly my nutrition is helping. I am also getting used to working 2 day at the office, which is good to my back to normal life, in less than 2 weeks. I also started running 15 minutes, I try 2 times a week, so that I can be back in shape. According to my kinesiologist, I am at 60% of my potential...I am only 60% strong than my normal-self...it is so sad to see that on paper, and to realize it when I train...but I am alive!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am a bit frustrated that my oncologist is out of the country, and will return after Victoria day. When I'll be able to see her? When I will know my surgery date is? I am so impatient right now, and the nurses didn't call me back to let me know what Dr Provencher wrote in my file before leaving for her conference.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anyways, I have 2 more chemos to do sadly, but I am near the finish line of this long painful marathon that chemotherapy is.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3iswjXm1L_fo_Z58M1iA6Zv3r9FD2aej9GplZHbyECB5Vkl0chUl4eb7uuHxvCToQ8Y6s_WrkSKSQuc39MJhCUDJ1mRZPjvP_4m4AAPOUp5KZJ3qRcR0BAAk0CMab7iEvaQiXdwclxH-x/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3iswjXm1L_fo_Z58M1iA6Zv3r9FD2aej9GplZHbyECB5Vkl0chUl4eb7uuHxvCToQ8Y6s_WrkSKSQuc39MJhCUDJ1mRZPjvP_4m4AAPOUp5KZJ3qRcR0BAAk0CMab7iEvaQiXdwclxH-x/s1600/2.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

So this week I heard about Dani Alves (brazilian soccer player) being thrown a banana while playing with FC Barcelona, the owner of the LA Clippers saying to his mistress to not be seen with black people and some Boston fans being racist against P.K Subban, and I got fed up, then I took a deep breath and told myself how I can comment on this...like Dani Alves did, by eating a banana. So I sat at my kitchen's table and I ate a biologic ecuadorian banana (the best bananas btw)...and thought that in 2014 racist slurs should not be accepted...not anymore!!! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sadly in my family there are racist persons, since I cannot delete them from my DNA, I can challenge them in my arguments on why they are racist and confront them. You know when someone says he's not racist but will never accept to have a black family member...it is racism. I decided with my boyfriend who is my soul mate, that we will adopt a child, with a darker skin than him and I...and if someone in my family keeps being racist, it will not have any contact with us anymore. And I am not kidding, I will not adopt only to prove myself, but because that's what I always wanted to do . Even my mom can confirm that when I was a little girl, I always drew a dark skinned baby saying that I will have one this color...I was a kid! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is disgusting that in 2014, we judge people on their skin BEFORE judging their capabilities, education, judgment, etc. And I am not talking about white racists, I am talking about all racists, no matter the country or color, it is not acceptable. Living in a country like Canada, where there's a big melting pot of origins, we should be ashamed to have so little minorities involved in important aspects or our society. Try not to judge people on their skin or origins, because if you knew about my family or origins you would be surprise I even finished my B.B.A and not having a child before 20...Try not to let your stereotypes influence your first impression on a person with a different background than yours...Just look at the video below and tell me it is not true that even woman are treated differently in business...I am a woman in business and I am not bossy, I am a leader ;)</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfZ6QJwYvRR1f3Vl6JUIUL_NNDLCx0SV0PfylQJJSnAICF21Pm0_1Hcixt6Du_ueGvsPlGv4PFJ0U8_dK4J5K6UgWnSOjjJXKKCF00dsn55IeSBGjZxKdYbSP7cJhGd6oAlAnGMqMwUIgm/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfZ6QJwYvRR1f3Vl6JUIUL_NNDLCx0SV0PfylQJJSnAICF21Pm0_1Hcixt6Du_ueGvsPlGv4PFJ0U8_dK4J5K6UgWnSOjjJXKKCF00dsn55IeSBGjZxKdYbSP7cJhGd6oAlAnGMqMwUIgm/s1600/3.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So my red blood cells are high since the last 3 treatments, I don't have any side effects: no nauseas, no abscess, no harm at my nerves in my fingers and toes...and I gently asked to talk to the pharmacist to ask her about a supplement called Biotin...and she answers condescending!!! I am a patient that complains less, I read all the documentation available on chemotherapy and the side effects, and I felt like this question was too much at the beginning of her day. I am not easily offended, because she spoke completely differently to a 75 years old patient sitting next to me that was complaining about his dry eyes, but never bought the artifical tears recommended last treatment.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So why am I telling you this? Because in the health system the patients are the customers. I work in marketing, I know what customer service is, I've worked for 10 years now and I always follow this rule: The bad mood from home, doesn't come at work, not even when the customer can be vulnerable like in a hospital. After repeating myself 3 times, that I wanted the information before the end of my treatments in 3 weeks, I told her that I understood her schedule was busy but I still wanted an answer before 3 weeks since after that, I know the supplement cannot affect chemotherapy treatments anymore. She was answering me with a condescending manner and didn't even know what Biotin was, but I told her that was the name in english, and she asked me what it was for, and I told her it helps hair growth. So she's not only a pharmacist but a medium, she told me that my hair wouldn't grow while on chemo, and I told her after taking a deep breath that my hair HAD ALREADY growing and I look like a hairy peach, so that's why I want to help the hair growth...The nurse felt my patience coming to an end and told me that it was good I checked before taking supplements while on chemo. How am I supposed to feel, if I feel like my questions are bothering the pharmacist. And I know its not good if I start taking the supplements before the chemo is finished because I can interfere with the treatment's efficiency. Anyways, she sensed that my patience was ending so she took a note to my file and said that I will have an answer. Thank you, that's what I wanted to hear for the past 5 minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
So I got this of my chest...I still have 3 chemos to do, but I am annoyed to go to the hospital that I want to hear...Vicky you don't have to do the 3 treatments left...but that's impossible, it would be like when the doc says to take the antiobiotics for 10 days and at 7 days you stop, you didn't fight the virus at all. The only consolation I have is in a few days I will be able to eat oysters...a lot of oysters!!!</div>

Since I work as a marketing coordinator, I have to wear a corporate
outfit at work in case we have formal meetings. The challenge with my
work attire is to match my scarfs, you know people don't all know about the cancer during my business meetings and therefore I do not want them
to be distracted about why I have a scarf on my head. I already knew how
to tie turbans, scarfs on my head since I do that sometimes when I'm
under the sun to protect my ex <strike>long</strike> hair, so I had this
ability already. For some patients it could be challenging and you
would need some practice so I found this incredible site <a href="http://www.scarves.net/blog/knots-for-hope/" target="_blank">scarves.net</a> and
they have great videos and also great scarves. All the scarves I have
were bought during my multiple trips around the world but also some at
Winners in my province.</div>

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This BCBG scarf was bought at Winners and the style is the oversized chignon that I like to wear on my right side instead of the middle of my head, but all the sides are easy to do. To know how to tie the scarf, watch this video: <a href="http://www.scarves.net/how-to-tie-a-scarf/oversized-chignon.htm" target="_blank">oversized chignon</a>.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So those were my tips for my nice scarves during chemo. Since I didn't want to shave my head during winter, and since spring is not coming as fast as I wanted in Quebec, I decided to change my beanies and hats for scarves with fashion colors for spring: blush, mint, white, beige, leopard (is not a color but still lol), etc.</div>

</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
J'ai tu déjà dit qu'il me reste 4 traitements!!!?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
This chemo I had Nathalie as my nurse. I was a bit stressed out since she jabbed me 3 times the other treatment so I knew my veins were not cooperating with her. This time I decided to use my right arm, to let my left arm rest even if its on the same side of the tumor. The problem with my right arm that I noticed it is more sensitive to jabs than the other. I didnt' want her to try more than once, because of the blood test I already had a bruise bigger than usual.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Nathalie was happy to see my right arm since she remembered that my left arm didn't cooperate. She choose a vein in between my knuckles, I didn't know you could jab in there! Since the Easter long weekend was busy, I was looking forward to the benadryl's effect and sleep a little to recuperate. I was happy also to not wear a beanie for this chemo and I wore a mint scarf, to put some colors in my chemo life.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I slept as usual and woke up before the end to pee. Thank god my boyfriend is with me and stays by my side since I am desoriented and mix up the intraveinous tubs hahahaha</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I only have 1 month left, so 4 treatments, so a lot less than the 12 other treatments I already did!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I do not have other side effects which surprises the nurses but also reassure them, my body accepts the chemo which is good since chemo can give a lot of side effects....</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Did I say already that I have 4 treatments lefts!!!? </div>
Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05887888446472531016noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3519971189443477091.post-43717190941074767602014-04-23T08:25:00.003-04:002014-04-23T08:28:48.657-04:00Chimio 11 - Chemo 11<div style="text-align: justify;">
After 3 times trying to find a strong vein, the last was the good one :) This week it was nurse Line that had to do the job but now I warn them about my veins, so they know that they might try few times before starting the chemo. This time Line tried to use a different vein that wasn't used before but it didn't work she even touch a nerve so it felt ticklish in my thumb. The usual side effects of the benadyl kicked in and I slept like a baby! I noticed that having chemo early in the morning, helps me with the insomnia later that night. It's very important that I can sleep at least 5hours that night since I work the next day.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I had no other side effects to tell the pharmacist, except that I notice one time numbness in my hands but it quickly disappear. I also noticed my hair is growing back. I even had to shave my armpits, I never thought it could be awesome to see hair on your armpits LMAO My hair is slowly growing on my head, eyebrows, eyelashes and other hairy body parts I have...I now know how a mother feels when she sees her baby with new spots of hair :) amazing feeling!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I started working part time and it brings me happiness. I don't even notice how tired or hungry I am, because I love my job...even if I cannot travel while on chemotherapy, its not the only positive aspect of my job!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I still have 5 chemos to go...11 chemo done...I can't believe I went that far!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinooWIQnsMIP3zUK5c-PDWD7r_gyo_RtHxrKozmW5g_aTL_p_-hDWrdmpd6GEHb0V7k3-TPtKBiB2FVJakAeDdLxs25GQNaJX1-UIA9cP83dJ-0GRs0M_CZkbGbhRGKLSjW_RLM_VWclKR/s1600/strength.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinooWIQnsMIP3zUK5c-PDWD7r_gyo_RtHxrKozmW5g_aTL_p_-hDWrdmpd6GEHb0V7k3-TPtKBiB2FVJakAeDdLxs25GQNaJX1-UIA9cP83dJ-0GRs0M_CZkbGbhRGKLSjW_RLM_VWclKR/s1600/strength.jpg" height="320" width="256" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<br />
Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05887888446472531016noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3519971189443477091.post-38816405216782701842014-04-16T08:38:00.000-04:002014-04-25T20:16:09.858-04:00Contradictions<div style="text-align: justify;">
This week I noticed my eyebrows were going crazy...growing!!!I lost some of my eyebrows so they look less fuller than normal, but this week I see hair growing were I usually trim them...and I love it!!!It's contradictory because I would complain about trimming my eyebrows, but this week I almost cried of excitement!!! Loosing my hair all over my body was challenging, because I thought I cannot look good as before, but with some make-up no one can really notice or be sure I lost eyelashes or eyebrows.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I also see hair SLOWLY growing on my head (I look like a fuzzy peach :)) and I am wondering if it will be enough hair for my birthday so I can be without scarfs on pictures. My boyfriend, my mom, my little sister saw me without my scarfs...and my boyfriend says I have a nice sexy head to be without a scarf, so I can't wait for summer to be here and I can go GI Jane (LOL my boyfriend says that!!!). It is a contradictory feeling of being happy to see hair where normally you have to shave them, its been since december that I didn't shave or trim nothing LOL</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I also been told by other cancer patients that wearing a wig keeps me warm, which I don't want too because I have hot flashes like a woman in menopause. No kidding, sometimes I have to remove my scarf of wear a tank shirt because it's getting hot in here LOL!!! So I've decided that unless I really want to rent a wig at the cancer foundation, I will not invest in wigs, I prefer to embrace the bald/short hair trend I see in fashion :)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqiOhh7CZBPTcqtaRs7G3eJxKtKOUdmDzZyNfKHPBcpTTCT1sAy7g8mFLstEl9iEiTy7281-JACYTR4aXntEznqjEWrrMeoEaOGbX_fBgbWuy7gXw8QVErc2QIgvsszSbdhlBaRR8SqXLJ/s640/blogger-image-1557319042.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqiOhh7CZBPTcqtaRs7G3eJxKtKOUdmDzZyNfKHPBcpTTCT1sAy7g8mFLstEl9iEiTy7281-JACYTR4aXntEznqjEWrrMeoEaOGbX_fBgbWuy7gXw8QVErc2QIgvsszSbdhlBaRR8SqXLJ/s640/blogger-image-1557319042.jpg"></a></div><br></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Cette semaine j'ai remarqué que mes sourcils avaient plein de repousse!!!
<br>
<br>
It's getting hot in here LOL!!!".
Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05887888446472531016noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3519971189443477091.post-62854261451280448782014-04-16T00:12:00.002-04:002014-04-16T00:12:25.723-04:00Chimio 10 - Chemo 10<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This chemo I had a wonderful nurse named
Eveline, she found my vein at the first attempt, and she said smiling
that if I had problems before finding my veins it was because we never
met before. My blood cells increased which is a good sign because I feel
less tired. I didn't feel any other side effects and I wished I will
not have them until this chemo is over. All the nurses know my routine, I
bring my travel pillow and soon as the benadryl kicks in, I sleep til
the end of the chemo LOL It has to be boring for my hubby, anyways he
keeps himself busy for 1h30...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
I
also met another patient in her 30s which was recently diagnosed with
breast cancer, she never examined her breasts as often, and even in her
inner circle no other friend was doing their breast self-exams, she was
very surprised that I did at 25 years old. She just started treatment,
so she talked to me about her concerns and I told her how it went in my
case with chemo, even if every patient is different.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I
wanted to give my opinion with the no makeup selfies nomination, which
supposedly started to support cancer patients, well its useless, if a
woman takes a picture without makeup it doesn't support us and its a
stupid thing invented and publicized by social media. There are a lot of
other ways to support patients with cancer, by helping foundations or
initiatives, like Leucan or donate your hair to do a wig, Relay for
life, etc. I need it to tell you because sincerely a girl without makeup
is not a proof of bravery for me, so she doesn't support me at all!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This
week was also volunteers' week, those people who give their time to
help others, to help patients with cancer. Whether is to go pick them up
to transport them to their chemo treatments or by organising
fundraising activites, I thank you for helping us :)</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJrgvZBPnmR7XxMWw8DS_FmA24t7Ib4-6pVKJyfm6x2_Y9KfPooR8luZpTlVyglqvlin3rqwd3cE_mKi2bIeWWYgYrVIVnITYf_9DnS2hNa4FCfEeYb1bteUehb665bACnBVwlqmO_CuKd/s640/blogger-image-584726609.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJrgvZBPnmR7XxMWw8DS_FmA24t7Ib4-6pVKJyfm6x2_Y9KfPooR8luZpTlVyglqvlin3rqwd3cE_mKi2bIeWWYgYrVIVnITYf_9DnS2hNa4FCfEeYb1bteUehb665bACnBVwlqmO_CuKd/s640/blogger-image-584726609.jpg" width="640"></a></div>
<br>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> __________________________________________________________ </span><br>
Today I was back at work part time, yes I do enough strength to continue my dream job that was put aside for the time being during AC chemo, and that I get used to the side effects of chemo. I was at my office working on my laptop when I received a call on my cell, I thought it was my insurance company to let me know how my compensations will be affected this week since I work part time now, its like a gradual back to work agreement. Finally, it was the <a href="https://fqc.qc.ca/" target="_blank">Fondation québecoise du cancer</a> which had a room for tonight's workshop at <a href="http://lgfb.ca/en/look-good/" target="_blank">Look Good Feel Better</a>. <br>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The workshop consists of 2 hours on makeup tips, skincare, wigs, and scarf tips for patients with cancer, not only breast cancer but all types of cancer. I was, like always, the youngest, but now I'm really used to see the looks on people's faces being on my while I listened to the volunteers' instructions. Since I was at work before, I had already make-up on, and I was afraid to use the cleansing products since I didn't know the brands and I have sensitive skin. I listened and practice some tips that I didn't know, but I had a good knowledge on make-up tips since I watch youtube tutorials. But I learn I have to hydrate my skin 2 times a day!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So my skin was sensitive BEFORE chemo, so imagine now that your fast growing cells are being destroyed during chemo, it gave me some very dry skin areas: on my cheekbones, feet, back and hands. For the body I already have a <a href="http://www.curel.ca/en/index.aspx" target="_blank">CUREL cream</a> that I put everyday and that hydrates perfectly my body except for my feet. For my feet I strongly recommend Aquaphor by Eurecin cream, <a href="http://onnamusha.blogspot.ca/2014/04/aquaphor-product-review-critique-de.html" target="_blank">read this blog post</a> to know more about this wonderful greasy cream that leaves your EXTREMELY DRY feet smooth. Since I didn't want to invest 20-30$ in a face cream that I wasn't sure it would work, I received a Clinique cream free at the workshop. After 2 weeks, my cheekbones dry areas are less visible, its the number 5 on my picture.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In the image at the top you can see the creams I use for the face with the numbers I refer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
In the box, I received products from VICHY, CLINIQUE, Yves Rocher, MAC, Personnelle, Estée Lauder, Maybelline, Banana Boat...all for a value of 200$, no kidding, only in MAC products (I bought them often) I have 70$ of products!!! And they match your skin tone, so I had the box for medium 2014.<br>
<br>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I use Vichy cleansing milk, number 4, instead of my Aveeno's cleansing towels, because it dries less the skin and I see results, all my face seems more hydrated. I also use the day serum of Elizabeth Grant, number 3, when I don't have make-up, its really hydrating. I also received sun creams, normally I put SPF15 on my body and SPF 30 on my face. After chemo is over, and since summer is coming, I will have to put SPF60 on my face and SPF 45 on my body to better protect myself...and avoid skin cancer! I'm not a white skin girl, but more medium olive skin, but since UV light doesn't discriminate, I better protect my skin to enjoy being outside during summertime!<br>
<br>
The second part of the workshop consists on wigs and scarfs. In the group that night there were a lot of 2nd round cancer fighters (I can't believe someone can have cancer 2 times, its unfair!!!), and they told me about their experience with wigs. An artificial short hair wig (pixie cut) costs 300-400$, for the same length in natural hair is double the price. So I said well I won't wear them. They also told me you feel warm when wearing a wig, during winter is acceptable but during summertime it is not. I wanted to wear a wig for special occasions, but now I know I wouldn't be able to dance like I want to and with my hot flashes...its not a good idea. But I learned that at the foundation where the workshop took place, they can rent you a wig for 20$ a month (I have to verify!). I also shared my scarf tips that I match with my clothes and that I learned to do watching youtube tutorials, read my blog post about chemo fashion.<br>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue Light, HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue Light, HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">I HIGHLY recommend attending Look Good Feel Better workshop <u>before and during chemo</u>, you will received a lot of make-up tips and also for wigs/scarfs. It is also good mentally and for the pocket. There's a limited space for each workshop, so call and reserve yours as soon as possible according to <a href="http://lgfb.ca/en/workshop-finder/" target="_blank">the calendar of workshops</a>.</span></div>

Normally I don't offer products review but having cancer taught me to share information that could help other cancer patients or my readers. When you undergo chemo treatments it affects a LOT your skin, before I had dry skin now we can say I have very dry skin. Now I have to put cream everyday on my face and body when before it was only every 2 days. I noticed very dry skin on my feet and it doesn't feel or look good. It starting searching for a good cream without spending a lot of bucks without knowing if it will really work and finally decided to buy the cream Aquaphor by Eurecin, Advance therapy treatment on amazon.ca</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now after one month I can say this cream is so good!!!My feet are like brand new, very smooth, and even if the cream is greasy, it is the best investment I've mad in creams during chemo. I put it at night and wear thin socks to be sure the cream stays on my feet. Since I will finish chemo in may, I need to prep my skin for june, for summertime starting in Quebec. I saw Eucerin products at Jean Coutu also, but I know it is not often available at Wal-Mart.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
N'hésitez pas <a href="https://secure2.convio.net/cco/site/SPageServer?pagename=on_donationapi&s_locale=fr_CA&s_src=Cancer.ca&s_subsrc=Header&utm_source=Cancer.ca&utm_medium=Header&utm_content=DonateOnline&utm_campaign=DONATIONS_ON#.U0Nb0selIbs" target="_blank">à donner</a>, merci à l'avance ;)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN4O1rMj4PbNvB43t6KH5fHXLr878QUPH_NLUgU3m43PxqVdPz9UQU-vrs650SC3SZrJMGf5cpw7_xnQmbe1Ey0QC5XOlG99K20PFGsnmHxTr76a6Y9QKpqUg4dhoGvYUpMrvvasU_4zWG/s640/blogger-image-70215948.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN4O1rMj4PbNvB43t6KH5fHXLr878QUPH_NLUgU3m43PxqVdPz9UQU-vrs650SC3SZrJMGf5cpw7_xnQmbe1Ey0QC5XOlG99K20PFGsnmHxTr76a6Y9QKpqUg4dhoGvYUpMrvvasU_4zWG/s640/blogger-image-70215948.jpg"></a></div><br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So I started training today with a kinesiologist that works with the Centre des Maladies du Sein at St-Sacrement's hospital. Its well known that keeping a moderate level of activity keeps away cancer. Before being diagnosed with cancer I had a healthy lifestyle, walking everyday with my dog and I wanted to start training back at the gym to be as healthy as possible. With chemotherapy treatments starting I had to slow down to see what my body was able to do. Today I can say, I am not able to do everything as before, I can do 20 minutes on a treadmill when before I was able to do 30 minutes...but still I have to slowly go back into my old me.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I also noticed when I play tug-o-war with my dog that he wins...this never happened before lol so I have to put muscles back in my arms. I do not have a short term goal of losing weight but only being able to do more, increase my endurance in all my body before my surgery so that I am able to heal faster and get back to normal faster.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am not an athlete like Lance Armstrong or Saku Koivu, but still having good habits its very important for a survivor of cancer. Also, this month is <a href="http://www.cancer.ca/en/get-involved/events-and-participation/find-an-event-near-you/daffodil-month/?region=on" target="_blank">Daffodil Month</a>, you can buy a daffodil pin and also daffodils to support cancer fighters, you know those funds help many cancer patients who have financial difficulties during treatment but also initiatives like allowing cancer patients to have adequate physical training. It also helps patients to rent or buy wigs and other material that will help us during our healing process.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Do not hesitate to <a href="https://secure2.convio.net/cco/site/SPageServer?pagename=on_donationapi&s_locale=en_CA&s_src=Cancer.ca&s_subsrc=Header&utm_source=Cancer.ca&utm_medium=Header&utm_content=DonateOnline&utm_campaign=DONATIONS_ON#.U0NYMMelIbs" target="_blank">donate</a>, and thank you in advance ;) </div>
Vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05887888446472531016noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3519971189443477091.post-20008307773289119232014-04-06T22:36:00.001-04:002014-04-06T23:49:15.619-04:00Chimio 9 - Chemo 9<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivyv7cd1xiFjoZVbMq8XribEnmnzAy-imkfYOP6hRX_quOJa3U9R4c1OGtMjxYGTaQiFZoCNQfS1-TuU_JD9ByIt-Lc_U7Pbvbtow3D8pEBPPPiHwCZ3fQenQUwC_3NDxqzLciqpddVvtT/s640/blogger-image--227408891.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivyv7cd1xiFjoZVbMq8XribEnmnzAy-imkfYOP6hRX_quOJa3U9R4c1OGtMjxYGTaQiFZoCNQfS1-TuU_JD9ByIt-Lc_U7Pbvbtow3D8pEBPPPiHwCZ3fQenQUwC_3NDxqzLciqpddVvtT/s640/blogger-image--227408891.jpg"></a></div><br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So the 50% of my treatment is over, and my body didn't stop to remind me. It took 4 times to the nurse to find a strong vein to start my treatment. It was 20 minutes more to my treatment and also more pain. So fed up with my veins no cooperating, I didn't want the nurse to jab in my wrist because its a sensible zone for me and I was afraid I wouldn't bear the pain. Finally another nurse was able to find a vein so that my treatment could start...what a relief, then I could sleep for 1h30 because of the benadryl :)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
They often say that chemotherapy tires you, and its true the body feels tired, but I didn't know that veins too, you have cells in your veins so it makes sense that the veins are tired.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am still loosing my hair, what's remaining of it, and now my eyebrows are thinning more than before so I start to look more sick, you know that look that cancer patients don't want to have and the winter just finished so I don't even have my tan glow...I wonder if I will still have hair at the end of my treatment? Not that I am afraid of not having hair at all, but I would like to see when this hair loss stops and take a picture so I can compare it when it regrows in june!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmZCdTPU7Ymg2ChHRnGXBKEHuWlQk7Z0iSHzrGdp-CEE1wxtgHhMLk0tLX6x8SiVZbf9NUd8jBGwJla2i9TY8qT6moLsOu9MHXOj7eITRGmpHt6DrUC5ZScZV6lCzK-ctgWXcyZdDH-PwZ/s640/blogger-image--1253304884.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmZCdTPU7Ymg2ChHRnGXBKEHuWlQk7Z0iSHzrGdp-CEE1wxtgHhMLk0tLX6x8SiVZbf9NUd8jBGwJla2i9TY8qT6moLsOu9MHXOj7eITRGmpHt6DrUC5ZScZV6lCzK-ctgWXcyZdDH-PwZ/s640/blogger-image--1253304884.jpg"></a></div><br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpT-qUEQu6TLR7kl2omKY8oUyisG2f2AdTJywteBYEuKt9cqeZ_QBKD63IQYK6dg4_FUP2HhBdTpClQkM5-m1-xLoFQUCWpGyajJue0PgkbqdL50-Q9lO2wcnyIsDOji221ElTiWWnVZut/s640/blogger-image-1696333892.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpT-qUEQu6TLR7kl2omKY8oUyisG2f2AdTJywteBYEuKt9cqeZ_QBKD63IQYK6dg4_FUP2HhBdTpClQkM5-m1-xLoFQUCWpGyajJue0PgkbqdL50-Q9lO2wcnyIsDOji221ElTiWWnVZut/s640/blogger-image-1696333892.jpg"></a></div><br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This week of chemo, with the good news I've got on the genetics testing and the tumor that is not there anymore, I cannot complain about the side effects of chemo...I'm too positive for that! But I started noticing that in the afternoon its my nap time hahaha more chemos my body receives, more tired I feel and naps allow me to reload my batteries so I can continue my duties.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I finish this chemo post with a tip for the young and less young. Having cancer thought me a lot about myself, life and even medicine lol It also reinforce the way I see things happening in my life: having goals...short term and long term.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When I started chemo in january, I was very sad knowing that I had 5 months to go because I was focusing on the overall picture. Then I started having short term goals like: finishing the AC chemo which was the worst one I had, and also complete 50% of my treatments. Now its april, I'm already at 50% completed and I don't even remember what is AC chemo...thank God!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Even though, I lost my hair, my eyelashes are falling and my eyebrows too, the treatment is effective and I'm healing, which is my long term goal. You always need to set short term goals to achieve your long term goals, it encourages you and you can adjust also.
